Free Online Drop the Block
Drag colourful block shapes onto a 10×10 grid. When you fill a complete row or column it clears, earning bonus points. Place all three shapes, then three new ones appear. The game ends when none of the available shapes can fit on the grid.
How to Play Drop the Block
- Three block shapes are shown below the grid at the start of each round.
- Drag a shape from the tray and drop it anywhere on the grid where it fits.
- A shape can only be placed on empty cells — it cannot overlap filled cells or extend outside the grid.
- When every cell in a row or column is filled, that row or column clears and you earn bonus points.
- Multiple rows and columns can clear at the same time for extra bonus points.
- Once all three shapes have been placed, three new shapes appear automatically.
- The game ends when none of the three available shapes can be placed anywhere on the grid.
Scoring
- 2 points for every block cell placed on the grid.
- 100 bonus points for each row or column cleared.
- An extra 100 points for each additional line cleared in the same move (multi-clear bonus).
Drop the Block Tips & Strategy
- Think ahead — plan where the next two or three shapes will go before placing the first.
- Avoid leaving isolated gaps that no shape can fill; keep the grid as open as possible.
- Try to set up clears on multiple rows and columns simultaneously for the biggest score bonuses.
- Long straight shapes (3- and 4-cell lines) are great for completing nearly-full rows or columns.
- Corner and L-shapes can fill awkward gaps that other pieces leave behind.
Frequently Asked Questions
- Do blocks fall automatically like Tetris?
- No — blocks do not fall. You choose exactly where to place each shape by dragging and dropping. There is no time pressure.
- What happens when all three shapes are placed?
- Three brand-new random shapes appear immediately. The grid is not reset — any blocks already placed stay in place.
- Is my best score saved?
- Yes — your best score is saved in your browser and shown at the top of the page. It persists between sessions on the same device.
